05 May We are crossing
Rick and I spoke to Pilou yesterday and he happily confirmed that, with the engine problems sorted, that there was no need for another stop. “We are crossing!”, he said and told us that everyone’s spirits were high with the overheating problem behind them.
They are positioning themselves for the best route across the Atlantic, which – counterintuitively – means heading a bit further south to set themselves up for the tradewinds to carry them across (remember the earlier post “South til the butter melts”?). They are now west of the Cape Verde Islands, which in turn are off the coast of Mauritania.
Friends and family of the crew had sent greetings to us to pass on to the crew, who are happy to hear that we are all following them on their trip.
More when we get another call from the Atlantic.
